We’ve had a week of gloomy, foggy, rainy, and icy days at the lake. Area schools were closed Monday and the slipping and sliding continued through mid-week. Not only did the treacherous weather hamper driving, it made walking tricky, even for short distances. Those of us with dogs had to cut our walks to a minimum, and as a result, we’ve all suffered from lack of exercise and fresh air. Anyone who owns horses will tell you most were kept inside barns this week, because their pastures had turned into skating rinks. One of our staff members relayed the story of one of her horses kicking its stall door in frustration due to too many days inside. Finally, once the ice started to breakup, hay was spread throughout the pasture to ensure traction and the horses finally saw the light of day. I guess everyone gets cabin fever at times!
