What’s Happening At The Lake …

It’s apple-picking time at the lake, and one of our favorite places to visit each fall is the Apple Barn Orchard & Winery near Elkhorn. Although last weekend was overcast and a bit cool, one of our staff members and her family ventured to the Apple Barn and enjoyed an afternoon of apple picking in between rain drops. The acres of orchards produce an abundance of apple varieties, including Honey Gold, Cortland, Honey Crisp, Ida Red and more. If you’re not feeling as ambitious – no worries, you can purchase apples in the Apple Barn Store along with their famous fresh apple cider donuts. Also, if you’re an aficionado of fruit wines, you won’t want to miss their tasting lounge and bar where you can taste their award-winning wines.

It’s Apple Picking Time

The family-friendly event includes pony rides, bouncy houses, plus German music, brats and the Sprechtoberfest's beer tent. In addition, special sales will be available at downtown shops. Old Tyme Radio Show: This Saturday morning, Lake Lawn Resort hosts a live, old-time radio show that will broadcast on WGTD-FM, Kenosha. The show will be reminiscent of those heard in the 20s, 30s, and 40s, complete with actors and sound effects. For show time and details, click here.

Historic Beer Brewing: Watch historians from Old World Wisconsin and the Museum of Beer and Brewing bring historic brewing techniques back to life this Saturday.
