The hot weather over the last week didn’t deter our staff from enjoying fun, summertime activities. In fact, it was perfect for a concert in Lake Geneva’s Flat Iron Park, which by the way, occur every Thursday night. (No concert this week due to Venetian Festival.) Some of our staff tried stand up paddle boarding for the first time, and they weren’t embarrassed to say they were in the lake more than they were standing up! A bike ride was also on the agenda for one staff member and her family. The 12-mile White River Trail, which is a converted rail corridor that runs between Elkhorn and Burlington, has a limestone base and fairly level grade so it’s perfect for the serious bicycle enthusiast or those out for a leisurely ride.

This Weekend, August 22-23
As August winds down, there are still plenty of things to do At The Lake. Here are just a few of our favorites for this weekend:
Venetian Festival: In its 53rd year, the Lake Geneva Jaycees really know how to throw a party! This five-day event, from August 19-23, is a must for locals and visitors alike. You can enjoy a carnival, craft fair, brat stand and beer tent, live entertainment and more. The festival concludes on Sunday with a water ski show, boat parade and fireworks. Click here for a schedule of events.
Inland Lake Yachting Association Championship Regatta: The premier inland lake sailing event will attract top skippers and crew from around the country to Geneva Lake, August 19-23. The brand new Buddy Melges Sailing Center located at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club will serve as host with over 250 boats expected to participate in the multi-class racing event. You can enjoy the event from the water by renting a kayak at Fontana Paddle Board Company. Click here for a full race schedule.
Shake the Lake: Lake Lawn Resort’s annual music festival is a fun-three day event held along the shores of Delavan Lake. The music starts on Friday, August 21 and goes all weekend. You won’t want to miss bands like Bella Cain, voted “Country Group of the Year” in 2012 by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry, and The Boat Drunks, an opening act for Jimmy Buffett, The Beach Boys, and Little Feat.
