Now that there’s a chill in the air, last weekend’s summer-like weather seems like a distant memory. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s welcomed fans of wooden boats to The Abbey Resort in Fontana. The annual Antique & Classic Boat Show drew large crowds and showcased dozens of boats, ranging in style and age. Adjacent to the harbor, an artist’s fair included local and regional artists and their work. The warm weather brought fishermen to the lakes on Saturday and Sunday as well. Boat launches at Delavan Lake and Geneva Lake were busy all weekend. And finally on Sunday night, the skies cleared over most of Walworth County so most of us could witness a total lunar eclipse as the full supermoon crossed into the Earth's shadow and took on a blood-red hue. If you didn’t witness this spectacular show in the night sky, you’ll have to wait another 18 years.

This Weekend, October 3-4
As we flip the calendar to October, more busy weekends full of fun, fall activities are scheduled throughout the lakes area. Here are a few of our staff favorites for this weekend:
Fall Fiber Jubilee: Watch the shearing of Angora goats, plus shop for wool, yarn and fleece, and select fine clothing, accessories, goat milk soap, body balm and more on Saturday at Tall Grass Farm, north of Delavan. The one-of-a-kind fall market is a great place to get a jump-start on holiday shopping! Click here to learn more.
Geneva Lake Conservancy Shore Path Walk: Walk the 10.5 miles from Library Park in Lake Geneva to Fontana this Saturday to support the important work of the Geneva Lake Conservancy. Fully stocked aid stations will be set up every three miles to maintain energy, plus a light, post-walk meal will be provided. Click here to sign up.
When Angels Carried Them Away: Death and Mourning in the Victorian Era: This Black Point Estate program begins on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a narrated boat tour on the Lake Geneva Cruise Line that will highlight the locations of maritime mishaps on the lake. Upon arriving at the estate, guests will participate in a presentation on Victorian funeral and mourning customs and a first-floor house tour. The tour returns to the Riviera boat dock in Lake Geneva at approximately 7:30 p.m. Click here for more information.
Autumn on the Farms: Old World Wisconsin near Eagle presents a celebration of the 19th century harvest season with interactive, family-friendly experiences. You can help farm families and villagers bring in their crops, stock the larder and put up the produce for winter. Learn more here.
