This Week At The Lake…

Hope everyone enjoyed the past weekend and its beautiful weather. The Lobster Boil, Driehaus party fireworks and Sunday’s Doktor Kaboom at Music By The Lake were just a few of the many options! (Check out our readers' photos below).

As we head into August, every weekend is filled with concerts, festivals, foodie events and more. Here are our top picks for this coming weekend, July 31 through August 2:

Live (and free) Music: Sorry, all tickets are sold out for The Music of Abba at Music By the Lake on August 1. But no worries, you can console yourself with two free live music options at the new Brunk Performance Pavilion in Flat Iron Park, Lake Geneva. On Thursday, July 30, country music lovers can enjoy Geoff Landon & Wolfpack from 6 to 8 p.m., playing the country hits of today and years past. And on Sunday, August 2, the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and arrive early for a good spot.

If you can’t make the Sunday performance of the symphony, they are also playing at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 1 at the Phoenix Park band shell in Delavan. A short performance by the Delavan-Darien High School Summer Chamber Strings will precede the symphony at 6:30 p.m.

Viva Lake Geneva: The scooter rally is back, with many group rides and parties scheduled throughout the weekend. You can get all of the details from Midwest Action Cycle; click here for a schedule. If you have a scooter, and maybe some 80’s attire (this year’s theme), you’re in.

All Access Day at Ten Chimneys: Our staff has not been to this event at Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot, but it sure sounds like fun. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, enjoy the Ten Chimneys historic buildings tour, plus spend time on the grounds, and even use the swimming pool! Bring a picnic and enjoy live music (must be over the age of 12 to tour the historic buildings). $50 per person, call 262-968-4110 to order tickets or click here.
