Summer is in full swing with dozens of things to do in the Geneva Lakes area, and last weekend was no exception. In addition to Swim for Freedom, the annual eight-mile swim from the Lake Geneva Beach to Fontana for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Madison Classics Car Show and Swap Meet took over the Walworth County Fairgrounds. And Sunday night we all witnessed a dramatic light show in the sky courtesy of Mother Nature. (Check out our reader’s photos below.)

This Weekend, August 8-9
This weekend promises more fun at the lake with festivals, art shows, book sales, movies on the beach, golf outings, music and more. Here are some of our staff picks:
Art in the Park, Lake Geneva: In its 35th year, this juried art show is a must-see for art lovers of all genres. Over 80 artists from all over the U.S. will display paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewelry and more in Flat Iron Park along Lake Geneva’s waterfront. The art show sponsored by the Lake Geneva Arts Foundation will take place both Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more details.
Lions Corn & Brat Roast: What says summer more than a grilled brat, an ear of corn and a cold beer? This fun, three-day event in Edgewater Park in Williams Bay starts on Friday evening and runs through Sunday. In addition to great food, including the Lioness bake sale on Saturday and Sunday (yum!), you’ll enjoy live entertainment, kids’ activities and fireworks on Saturday night.
Friends of the Lake Geneva Library Book Sale: For those bibliophiles, there’s no better place to be than Library Park on Saturday and Sunday. The 25th annual event is a great place to browse for mass media paperbacks, hardcover, trade books, even rare editions or signed copies. You’ll even find DVDs and CDs – all at incredibly low prices.
